Mission and goals
This Web site is run on behalf of the JPEG committee on a not for profit basis by a group of elected trustees from the JPEG community, and with the full authority of the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29 (JPEG/JBIG) committee. The intent is to provide a valuable resource to the digital imaging community, and to promote the goals, standards and work of the committee without bias or favouritism.
Using our website
Usage of the JPEG website is subject to the Terms and Conditions explained on this page. You should read the page regularly to check out the latest version of the Terms and Conditions. Your use of this site is deemed to indicate your acceptance of the current version of these Terms and Conditions.
Copyright
Any names, images and logos displayed on this site which identify the JPEG Committee and its working groups are the proprietary material of the JPEG committee and/or third parties. Copying any of this material is not permitted without prior approval from the owner of the relevant copyright. Requests for such approval should be directed to the Convenor in the first instance.
Please give us some indication of the intended use of the relevant material and include your contact details: - email, full name, company, address, telephone number and fax.
Linking policy
You may link directly to pages hosted on this site, but only by providing the URL, without any modifying parameters. Please note that we specifically do not allow you to load pages from this site into frames on your site. Our pages must load into the user’s entire window, and an indication be provided to the user that they are viewing the ‘Official JPEG website’.
As a policy, we will only link to our sponsors, partners and other committee members, except through our Solutions database, or through vetted links proposed by a JPEG committee member. We do not accept or operate any ‘link exchange’ schemes.
The JPEG committee, and its individual members is not responsible for the contents or reliability of any site to which it is linked and does not endorse or comment on the views and claims made within them. Linking to or from this site should not be taken as endorsement of any kind.

Privacy statement
If you are a user with general public and anonymous access the JPEG website does not store or capture personal information, but merely logs the user’s IP address that is automatically recognised by the web server.
We may use cookies for collecting some user information in order to provide an automated login to certain sections of the site. This information is limited to the username and password necessary for authentication, and an indication of the preferred language for information delivery.
We do collect information about users submitting information to the site, for example to the Solutions Database. The use of this information is restricted to direct usage by the Site’s owners for marketing, billing, sponsorship and similar purposes, and for liaising with submitter’s as to the accuracy and acceptability of the information provided for display on the JPEG web site.
Personal data (i.e. information which could identify you) other than that held about JPEG members, submitted to the JPEG website will only be used to respond to your feedback. We will not pass it on to any third party (including other Government departments or agencies) without your consent except where required to by legal action.
The site is also run for and on behalf of the JPEG committee, and sections of that sight are only available to members of the committee with valid usernames and passwords. The information within these sections is private to the committee, and any access by any third party will constitute a legal infringement of this privacy. Full details are held of JPEG members in suffficient detail to allow the committee and its members to conduct their normal business. Some members may permit selected information from these records to be displayed to all site users, with their direct permission
